WiscFish
Free software download of FishID 1.0, but first, read on...
FishID 1.0 is a really big software program. There are more than 9,700 files that occupy more than 300 MB of disk space. Rather than downloading the software from this Web site, you might consider ordering a copy of the CD from Wisconsin Sea Grant. It might take less time!
The files include all of the fish images, the database, and a bunch of files to run the interactive software. We recommend downloading the software shortly before bedtime so that it is available to install and use by breakfast.
Download FishID 1.0 here (really big at about 250 MB). Estimated download time is about 20 minutes on a broadband connection.
When prompted to "Open" or "Save" the file, select "Save". Once download is complete, open the Zipped file, extract it to a directory of your choice, then...
FOLLOW THESE INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:
(1) Run Setup.exe. This will install the software in two general steps:
(1a) You will be prompted to install the software in a directory of your choice, and then the executable software will be installed.
(1b) The installation will pause and present a "Copy" dialog box. If you select "Start", the installation program will try to copy the database and images to the installation directory. Don't do this, because it will expect the software to be on a CD, which it isn't. Instead, quit the installation and proceed to step 2.
(2) Copy the two directories, "Database" and "Images" from the download directory to the new software installation directory.
You're done. Run WiscFish FishID 1.0 from the installation directory.
